This is the home and town hall of the OAKS project, a big tent coalition for full-stack OSS AI built around agentic knowledge.
A core part of OAKS is a knowledge base connecting MCP servers around the world. We collect and define schemas for Agentic AI workflows. We support MCP and ACP, the Agent Control Protocol.
OAKS is not a stand-alone OSS project but rather an alliance of OSS projects, partners, and a set of best practices to build your own AI on OSS foundations with optional proprietary cloud services such as ChatGPT or Claude, Aura or Neon, Databricks or Snowflake.
OAKS is confounded by Neo4j and IBM, members of the Linux Foundation for AI and Data (LFAI) as well as the AI Alliance, with various parts of the stack overseen by their respective leaders. If you want to add your components to the stack, or elaborate on the areas we have, such as Structured Output, feel free to jump in! See below on how to get engaged. We are still accepting launch partners — get in touch!
Oaks.Town, this site, is built as a Notion site. If you are a partner and want to contribute, contact us and we’ll add you to the workspace. We use Notionhost, an OSS package that hosts Notion sites on your domain using Cloudflare workers for free.
Structuring the Knowledge Stack
Knowledge is at the heart of AI. By focusing on knowledge management, knowledge representation, and reasoning with domain knowledge, we both structure our understanding of the software stack around knowledge and connect to the rich tradition of representation and reasoning. Knowledge graphs and reasoning engines have a lot of history and context that can augment our current thinking about GenAI.
